Class Description:

Bring the beauty of the outdoors inside by creating your own functional wall art. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to transform a simple slab of clay into a Pressed Leaf Wall Pocket—a unique, wall-hanging vessel perfect for holding flowers, plants, or letters.

Using fresh foliage as our "stamps," we will capture the intricate veins and textures of nature directly into the clay, ensuring no two pieces are ever the same.

What You’ll Learn

Slab Construction: Master the basics of rolling, cutting, and joining clay slabs to create a sturdy 3D pocket.

Botanical Impression: Explore techniques for pressing leaves and ferns into the surface to create high-relief textures.

Surface Design: Learn how to use underglazes or oxides to highlight the organic details of your leaf prints.

Functional Finishing: How to properly reinforce seams and create secure hanging points for wall mounting.

Workshop Details

Level: All levels welcome (no prior ceramics experience required!).

What’s Included: Stoneware clay, a selection of fresh leaves, all necessary tools, and two kiln firings.

Outcome: You will complete one large or two medium wall packets. Your pieces will be glazed and ready for pickup 2–3 weeks after the second session.

Pro Tip: Feel free to bring a few leaves or herbs from your own garden if you have a specific plant you’d like to immortalize in clay!

Why Take This Class?

This workshop is a perfect blend of structural building and creative play. It’s incredibly meditative to work with organic textures, and you’ll leave with a professional-looking piece of home decor that is both beautiful and useful.
