Every Second Saturday at the RCA Campus from 9AM to Noon
All Plein Air painters are invited to capture the beauty of the RCA Campus every Second Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to noon during the popular Austin Street Art Walk. Choose from a variety of inspiring subjects—sculpture, architecture, market scenes, or people—and enjoy the opportunity to sell your work directly to the public that same day.
Each session will feature a skilled guest artist painting on-site, offering a valuable chance to observe and learn from experienced outdoor painters. Join us in this dynamic and engaging addition to an already thriving monthly event.

Shelly S. Wierzba, AIS
Artist Statement:
Rockport Texas oil painter Shelly Wierzba, has been creating art in various mediums for 47 years. She studied art and design intermittently throughout her educational years, and pursued independent study with renowned master painters after a fulfilling career in the medical field. She employs broken color in her impressionistic work because it mimics the process of human vision. Using caulking tubes and guns, she starts many paintings by squirting paint across her canvas and using her fingers to lightly mix it. Then she uses painting knives, and tools from the hardware store to move the paint in the desired directions. Her two goals are to paint the light and the emotion she feels from her reference so she can share that with the viewer. She enjoys plein air painting and teaching from both her studio and on location. She earned her Signature Membership in the American Impressionist Society in 2022, and is active in the Oil painters of America, the Outdoor Painter’s Society, the National Oil and Acrylics Society, Rockport Center for the Arts, Port Aransas Art Center, and Corpus Christi Art Center. She was featured as an Artist to Watch in the national magazine Southwest Art in the June - July 2021 issue. Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States in solo and group exhibitions and hangs in private and corporate collections across the nation. Currently you can find her paintings at the Wind Way Gallery in Rockport, and the art centers mentioned above.
