All sessions are on Tuesday afternoons, beginning at 1:00 p.m. All are invited to attend.
Jan 20 - Rockport Harbor located north of the Rockport Center for the Arts. Colorful bait stands and a variety of boats make this one of the most popular painting sites in Rockport. Restrooms, food and beverage are all nearby. Parking is ample.
Jan 27 - Fulton Mansion State Historic Site, 317 Fulton Beach Road, is the site of a fully restored 1877 Victorian mansion. If architecture isn’t your thing, there are beautiful trees and interesting gardens behind the mansion. The education center behind the mansion has restrooms. Convenience stores are just a few blocks away.
Feb 3 - Downtown Rockport, meet near Coastal Mercantile. Parking on the street. Public restrooms located at the corner of Walker and Magnolia Street and at Rockport Center for the Arts. Resturaunts nearby.
Feb 10 - Howard Murph Memorial Park, located directly behind the Aransas County Airport is a natural shoreline along Copano Bay attracting birds. There are some shaded areas and covered seating. Public restrooms located at the corner of Walker and Magnolia Street and at Rockport Center for the Arts. This is a lovely place to capture the sunset for those who decide to stay a bit later (6:16 p.m.).
Feb 17 - The Big Tree at Goose Island State Park in Lamar just north of Rockport is the site of a massive live oak tree standing among other beautiful oaks, native grasses and shrubs. In the spring there are wildflowers. This site is remote and doesn’t have restrooms. A park pass is not required. Travel time to Rockport is about 15 – 20 minutes. Feb 24 - Rockport Railroad Depot, and Historic Caboose In the cultural arts district. Lots of parking. Restrooms, food and beverage nearby.
Mar 3 - Fulton Harbor located on the waterfront in Fulton on Fulton Beach Road has colorful bait stands and lots of commercial fishing boats. There are public restrooms and food and beverage options nearby. Parking is ample.
March 10 - Stella Maris Chapel and Lamar Cemetery, 222 Hagy Dr. Lamar, TX. This charming historical shellcrete structure was the first church built in Aransas County when completed in 1858. Graves date back to the 1700s. There are surrounding gardens with statues. Restrooms are available. There is a convenience store and a restaurant in Lamar near Hwy 35.
March 17 - Bent Oaks Rookery Park (owned by City of Rockport) is an 8-acre waterfront property on Little Bay offering a natural setting, windswept live oaks and wildlife. Birds start nesting mid-January. Address: 1401 Broadway behind the Goodwill/Sherwin Williams Shopping Center. HEB is just a block away for food, beverage and public restrooms.
