Class Description:
This mentorship-style plein air oil painting workshop is designed for painters who are ready to move forward with clarity and intention. Prior to the workshop, participants will complete a brief questionnaire so Suzie can better understand where they are in their artistic journey. Each artist will receive a scheduled one-on-one session to discuss strengths, challenges, and specific next steps for growth. During the in-person workshop, participants will paint together on location in Rockport. Suzie will demonstrate outdoors, explain her decision-making process, and provide individualized guidance at each easel — building on the goals and intentions identified during the mentorship session. This workshop is best suited for intermediate to advanced painters. Motivated beginners with a solid working knowledge of materials are welcome.
Supplies needed:
Please bring the gear you are most proficient using and use the attached supply list for reference, especially if you are newer to painting. If you have been painting a while, no doubt, you have your go-to supplies, so feel free to bring what you are comfortable with and use Suzie’s list to supplement what you already own. Please plan to pack a lunch every day.
About the Instructor:
"Suzie Baker paintings are regularly on display in magazines, prestigious national shows and the top plein air events in the country. She has served on the board of Oil Painters of America since 2014, including presiding as president from 2020-22. Suzie holds signature status in that distinguished organization as well as the American Impressionist Society, American Women Artists, and others. In addition to being a still life and portrait artist, Suzie has been painting en plein air since she was a teenager.
