Art from the Coast of Texas and Elsewhere...
I believe art enriches and improves our lives.
My art is inspired by the natural beauty of the South Texas Coast, Big Bend, and the Texas Hill Country, especially around the Laguna Madre, the Chisos Mountains, and the Frio River.
I am pleased to acknowledge my recent acceptance as a Signature Artist in the Outdoor Painters Society, a national group of artists dedicated and supportive of En Plein Air painting. It has hundreds of members in the USA and hosts the annual Plein Air Southwest Show in Galveston for 50 juried artist members, and the annual “Paint Kerrville” Plein air competition and show, in addition to hosting paint-outs for member artists in various locations.
A long time native of Corpus Christi, and I now split my time between there and the Frio River. I live with my wife, Jessica, amongst an ever-changing menagerie of animals. In addition to painting, I enjoy fishing, golfing, music, photography, birding, reading, and joking around with family and friends.
I also volunteer my services as the captain of the search and rescue boat, the “Laguna Mermaid”, for the Texas Sealife Center. When not engaging in these activities, I work as a Licensed Professional Counselor, specializing in trauma and crisis counseling.
Painting is a great stress reliever for me, but the urge to paint is driven by the marvel and mystery of the natural world around me. I express my wonder, curiosity, and gratitude through my art, and hope people feel a connection to nature when they view my paintings and sculpture.
