The city of Rockport is now a certified participant in the Texas Film Commission's (TFC) Film Friendly Texas Certification Program and has adopted guidelines for filming (movies, commercials, etc.) in Rockport.

The 2010 Rockport Art Festival Poster Artist will be Shirley Blackman. Shirley's art career spans over five decades, and having moved to Rockport from East Texas, she has made a definite splash in the Rockport Art Community.

Jesse Guillen, a Rockport-Fulton Middle School Student, created the winning design for the 40th Annual Rockport Art Festival Official T-Shirt.

RCA remembers Harold Phenix, the first Rockport Art Festival Poster Artist and Beloved Friend of the Rockport Art Community. Phenix's watercolors were distinctly his own, and his contributions to the Rockport Art Scene will long be remembered and appreciated.

The jury for the 2009 Art Festival will be Kay Barnebey, Deborah Fullerton, and Stan Irvin. The three judges will award Best of Media awards in each category, and a Best of Show award.

The City of Corpus Christi's Arts & Cultural Commission will host a reception for the Ricardo Ruiz mural, "Every Question is a Key.”

Hotel Occupancy Tax fund projection for 2010 is down and as a result the City is considering cuts of up to 77% for such organizations as the Art Center of Corpus Christi and the Art Museum of South Texas as well as others.

Texas artist Mark P. Williamson has generously donated one of his granite sculptures to Rockport Center for the Arts' Permanent Collection.

The Art Center welcomed internationally acclaimed sculptors Jesus Moroles and Kent Ullberg for a discussion and reception, drawing a large, enthusiastic crowd.

Texas State Artist Dalhart Windberg conducted a free painting demo sponsored by the Art Center on Thursday, May 14. Spectators filled the large classroom to catch a glimpse of Windberg working on a canvas.
