Class Description:
Ever wanted to make your own jewelry? Then this workshop is for you.
A 1-day comprehensive introduction to get you started in hand fabricated jewelry making. Instructors will share their knowledge and help you gain the confidence to start your own metalsmithing journey.
This 7- hour work-shop will cover an introduction in the tools needed to start creating your own workspace. Instructors will share their best resources, supplies, tips and tricks as well as what tools are needed to get outfitted with a simple set-up. You will learn about studio and torch safety and procedures, trouble-shooting as well as torch comfort and control. You will learn critical design elements such as why it is important to choose the proper gauge of metal as well as cohesiveness of projects. Students will learn piercing and sawing of metal, basic texturing and forming with hammers as well as other tools to shape, sand and file. Instructors will also show you how to make your own ear wires and finally your Instructors will touch on finishing techniques, refining, polishing as well as adding a patinaed finish to really make your jewelry pop.
No previous experience is needed! Students will walk away with a unique hand-crafted pair of earrings, the confidence and knowledge to continue creating beautiful handmade jewelry on their own.
Teenya and Danya have 20 years of experience combined as Silversmiths, they love teaching this craft and have enjoyed working together for many years! They are both excited to help others find a passion for Silversmithing.
