Class Information:

During this two-day workshop, you’ll dive deep into the sensory heart of storytelling—how a moment, an image, or a memory feels on the skin, in the breath, in the body. As Maya Angelou reminds us, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

You will begin by writing a 500-word flash fiction piece that explores the textures of your memories and imagination: the warmth of a long-ago summer day, the metallic taste of loneliness, the soft glow of hope, or the sharp shimmer of desire. From there, you’ll turn those sense memories into something you can see and touch.

Using your story as inspiration, you will create a mosaic that blends language and material: fragments of your own words, photography, cut glass, and found objects that carry their own histories and emotions. As you assemble these pieces, you’ll translate mood into color, memory into texture, and story into form.

By the end of the workshop, you will leave with a finished mosaic—an artwork that reflects your narrative, embodying the feelings at its core, offering viewers the same emotional echo that your story evokes.

About the Instructors:

Jaqueline Claudet-Mitterer

Jackie’s mosaic art has appeared in the following juried shows: BLOOM! at R.W. Norton Art Gallery in Shreveport, Louisiana, the 95th Annual San Antonio Art League Museum Exhibition, Visiting Artists Show: Own Your Story, Write Your Own Ending at AGL Fine Art, Dallas, Texas. Her work is represented by Anita Diebel at the Anita Diebel Gallery in Rockport, Texas and Gallery 26 in Vienna, Austria. Her work has appeared in Arts to Heart Magazine.

Lisa Glasgow

Lisa’s debut novel, The Frida Files, will be released in June 2026 by High Frequency Press. Her short fiction earned Honorable Mention in the Writer’s Digest Literary Short Story Contest. She received The Writers Hotel Sara Patton Fiction Stipend, and won the Writers League of Texas YA Manuscript Contest. Her flash fiction has appeared in Gone Lawn and Literary Orphans.
