Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum's 2016 Birds in Art Exhibition comes to the Center

Once again 6 outstanding Member Artists make up this year's Merit Show: Standing Out. Kitty Dudics, retired Professor of Art from Del Mar, Corpus Christi selected artists for this year's group exhibit at the Rockport Center for the Arts.

Tim Olson's one-person show includes miniature paintings and drawings incorporating collage and found object assemblage.

The Art Center welcomes our 24th Poster Artist to kick off Art Festival season!

Curated by Lauren Amalia Redding, this exhibition encompasses the voices of several New York-based women artists, who along with Jane Eyre announce, "I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will."

This year’s Texas Clay Arts Association member show, The Six Pack Show, will showcase works from over 60 artists across Texas and beyond.

In Voracious Spaces, Joe Pena examines the culture of food trucks illuminated as they are by the intimate light of ethnic identity.

Carol Koutnik returns to the Main Gallery with her one-person show, Fantastic Garden. Carol was our 2005 Poster Artist and serves on the Art Center Board. She has been painting for over 50 years.

Every year RCA hosts a statewide juried exhibition for undergraduate and graduate students emerging in the visual arts. Prize winners are awarded to the top three artworks and selected by an invited juror: $500 First Prize, $300 Second Prize, and $200 Third Prize. 

For her 40th birthday, Mary Fischer treated herself to a clay class. She has been working in clay ever since. After taking classes as Southwest School of Arts and Craft, Mary discovered that functional clay was not her language, and has spend her time instead developing the "bleakly whimsical" structures she is known for today. 

Sally Mitchell is a local member artist. Those who frequent our galleries should be familiar with Sally's regular contributions to the Members Galleries in various medias, but this one-person Garden Gallery show will be a great opportunity for visitors to see a selection of her photographic work.

The annual all-member exhibition highlights our family of artists and provides a chance to stand out as a Merit Artist the following year. An invited juror will chose five Merit Artists, and a sixth is selected by popular vote.

Chispa's brings prime examples of her magical realism in the form of triptic alter pieces. Dramatic abstract landscapes counterpoise Chispa's magical realism alter pieces. This show will include drawings as well as oils on both canvas and paper.

ROCKPORT,TX. Last summer Jorge Alegría brought six unusual yet powerful drawings to the Merit Artists group exhibit and connected with collectors from different parts of Texas. That success led to his solo show Heaven in the Garden Gallery. 

Once again 6 outstanding Member Artists make up this year's Merit Show: Standing Out. Joe Pena, Assistant Professor of Painting at Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi selected artists for this year's group exhibit at the Rockport Center for the Arts.

Blazek's solo exhibition opens Saturday, June 18 and continues through July 30, 2016. A signature painting will be chosen as the image of the 2016 Rockport Art Festival poster, which will debut at the reception. Blazek will be signing copies of the poster at the reception.
