The Artist-in-Residence program

Our program exists to invite artists for time and space away from their typical environment, practice and obligations.  Since 2012, we have been able to provide artists from other parts of the world, a venue for presentation, production, reflection, and research.  The program is a cultural and humanities benefit to the communities of Rockport and Fulton – Artists-in-Residence have a solo show in the Rockport Center for the Arts main gallery, teach free workshops for the high school and the community, and immerse themselves in Rockport art culture.

The Artist-in-Residence Retrospective Exhibition, presented by Trish Smallenberger is a celebration of the creativity and vision of all our past artists-in-residence. Bringing together a diverse group of voices and styles, this special exhibition highlights the lasting impact of the residency program. Each participating artist has returned with new work created especially for this showcase, offering fresh perspectives while honoring their time in residence. The result is a dynamic and inspiring collection that reflects both the individuality of each artist and the shared spirit of artistic exploration that connects them all.

The Artist-in-Residence Retrospective Exhibition is made possible thanks to the generosity of long-time RCA supporter and A-I-R Program benefactor, Trish Smallenberger.
