Introduction to Watercolor
Join professional waterfcolor artist Al Kline in a 3-day classroom watercolor workshop for beginning,intermediate and advanced levels who would like to learn to portrait paint animals in watercolor. The class will demonstrate ba sic drawing skills in order to hand-draw animals as a portrait. Tonal studies, sketching, compositional design and textural painting in watercolor will be covered in order to create a convincing portrait in watercolor. The instructor will describe and demonstrate an impressionistic approach to watercolor painting a pet portrait.
About the Instructor
Al Kline is the President of the Watercolor Society of South Texas (WSSTX.ORG).
He was born in Holland to Dutch parents. He moved to the United States as a young child. He showed interest in art including watercolor at a young age. He spent the majority of his working life providing medicine and surgical services to his community for the past 30 years.
In 2017, he re-discovered the art of drawing and watercolor and was voted as president of the Watercolor Society of South Texas in 2018.
In 2020, he began to focus more on teaching watercolor for the Watercolor Society of South Texas, which has a rich history of promoting watercolor art in South Texas for the past 50 years.
Through teaching, and now online instruction, he has gained international recognition as a watercolor artist. He has won numerous awards in both local and state-wide shows.
