Stella Canfield believes that everyone can paint! This 5-day workshop is designed for beginners and experienced painters alike. Stella teaches a uniquely relaxed, natural way of expressing an individual emotional response to a subject or scene. She will help you further develop you creativity and free expression in order to capture the medium in an expressive, bold and direct fashion.

This workshop is offered to intermediate to advanced level artists.

Drawing in a Painting
Session 3, May 17, 2008, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM, optional demo at 6:15 a.m. at Cove Harbor

We'll Start at sunrise at Cove Harbor for a demo and a quickie of the sunrise over the marshy grasses. Then we'll stay for some sketches in the boat yard, while the light is still good. Work in pencil or paint, but we're working on the DRAWING in a painting and that doesn't mean just LINES! After a great lunch at the Apple Dumpling, we will go out to the cemetery to hunt for wildflowers and interesting statues to paint. It's beautiful there in the Spring.

RCA $70.00 full day, Non-members $80.00 full day. This workshop is also open to the public to follow along with the workshop and watch the participants and Virginia in action. Observer rate is $35 for members and $40 for non-members.

Learn the techniques and materials used to paint reverse imagines, useful technique for painting on clear glass. Finished projects are dishwasher safe! The possibilities are endless!

One Stroke Painting

Mary Ware - (Certified One Stroke Instructor)
One-Stroke Decorative Painting Techniques Class - Learning the Basic Techniques
Tuesday, June 24; 6-8 p.m.

In this session, participants will learn the basic techniques of the one-stroke painting approach. Previous painting experience is not necessary and beginners are most welcome. This particular approach is useful for individuals interested in using easily learned painting strokes for adding decorative elements to existing objects and for creating hand-made cards and gifts. While developed as a decorative style, the methods may be useful for other painting approaches as well. The supply fee will include all paints, brushes, surfaces and such used in the class. Students will keep their brush sets.

$25 Members - $30 Non-members
$15 Brushes & Supply Fee - All supplies will be provided and participants will each receive a full set of brushes to keep.

One Stroke Painting

One-Stroke Painting with Mary Ware - (Certified One-Stroke Instructor)
"Blend, Shade & Highlight in One Stroke!"- Painting Petals and Wildflowers
Thursday, June 26; 6-8 p.m.

In this session participants will learn the techniques for painting petals and wildflowers and will have a finished project to take home at the completion of the session. All paints, brushes, surfaces, etc. will be included with the supply fee. It is recommended that participants in this session attend the Tuesday basic techniques session, although this is not required, or have prior painting experience.

$25 Members - $30 Non-members
Use brushes from session one on June 24, or $15 Brushes & Supply Fee for new participants
