Annie Chrietzberg: 3-Day Workshop: Handbuilding Functional Pottery
with Annie Chrietzberg
Thursday-Saturday, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Feb 9 - Feb 11
Annie Chrietzberg recently returned home to Texas after ten years away having adventures, creating stories, and gathering textures, all of which she weaves into playful characters for the tabletop. Using textured slabs and thrown elements, she makes functional pots that could inspire normally upstanding citizens to play. She works with stoneware, and also dips into slipcasting, and fires it all to melty goodness in an oxidation atmosphere. In the workshop she will share the tricks that she has honed in her own studio practice, from the creation of templates & simple molds, to the gathering and use of textures, to the minute details that make handbuilt work truly shine. The class will explore all kinds of items for the table top from cups to pitchers to bowls to trays to plates, absolutely everything we will have time for. All levels are welcome and will learn fun new things!

3-Day Workshop: Translating Photographs into Painting
with Diane Pike
Thursday-Saturday, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Feb 23 - Feb 25
Studio paintings painted from photographs are difficult to pull off. There is much less information to paint from when painting from photos in comparison to standing outside and looking at the real thing. This workshop will deal with translating the value relationships and color relationships of a photo into a good painting instead of merely a direct copy of a photo. The basic schedule is Diane doing a demo in the morning and participants working on a new painting each day from photographs. This is a studio workshop.
